The prize was awarded based on the responsiveness, commitment, excellent team spirit and the results achieved on an important collaborative project. This led UMBRAGROUP to the development of a new rotary actuator architecture: an innovative solution which created value for the customer.
UMBRAGROUP has filed a patent application for the rotary actuators which are products featuring a compact design and high efficiency. They allow a significant reduction in aircraft weight and consumption which contributes to Airbus Helicopters innovation roadmap towards a more sustainable future in aviation.

The collaboration was established in 2018, created to meet the increasingly stringent requirements dictated by the civil aviation authorities. It brought the Airbus Helicopters and UMBRAGROUP teams together working side by side in search of innovative solutions: a challenging path, which put the work teams to the test and cultivated great internal know-how on both sides.
Compared to the standard production times, UMBRAGROUP responded in an agile way, creating the prototype very quickly, in almost half the time normally required. The Team also demonstrated a great collaborative spirit and professional attitude which, combined with the commitment and desire to get involved, led to distinguish it and identify it as the Intelligent Partner that the customer was looking for.
