Everett, WA & Saginaw, MI, United States – UMBRAGROUP, a global leader in high‑precision motion systems for Aerospace, Defense and Industrial applications, today announced the appointment of Michael Boland as Chief Executive Officer of UMBRAGROUP US, effective May, 1st, 2026.
Boland will succeed Kathy Moodie, who has successfully led UMBRAGROUP US through a significant phase of development and growth over the past 3-years. Kathy Moodie played a pivotal role in supporting this growth, and we sincerely thank her for her dedication and contribution. Kathy Moodie will continue to support UMBRAGROUP as senior advisor, with specific focus on customer relationships and business development, along with providing continuity and a smooth transition with Mr. Boland.
In his new role, Boland will be responsible for leading and further strengthening UMBRAGROUP’s operations in the United States, supporting the Group’s long‑term growth strategy, and reinforcing its positioning as a trusted partner for Aerospace and Defense customers across Americas.
Mr. Boland brings more than 20 years of leadership experience in the Aerospace and Defense industry, with a strong background across engineering, operations and enterprise‑level management within complex, technology‑driven industrial environments. Prior to joining UMBRAGROUP, he served as Chief Operating Officer of TRIUMPH Group, where he was responsible for operations, quality, execution assurance, supply chain and the deployment of the company’s operating system at enterprise level. Prior to his COO role, Boland served as the President of TRIUMPH’s actuation operating company, leading a team of over 1000 professionals across 10 US-based and international sites dedicated to the design, manufacture, test and support of Aerospace hydraulic and mechanical systems and components.
Earlier in his career, Boland held senior leadership roles within TRIUMPH as Site General Manager and Director of Engineering, overseeing advanced product development, certification programs and multidisciplinary engineering teams. He began his career at Honeywell and later joined Honda Aircraft Company, where he served as Lead Systems Engineer for the HondaJet hydraulic system and earned FAA Designated Engineering Representative (DER) certification.
His appointment reflects UMBRAGROUP’s continued commitment to expanding its U.S. footprint, accelerating innovation, and enhancing customer proximity in one of the Group’s most strategic markets.
